We were rolling through like Cataviña at the time, with its mesmerizing scenery of huge boulders and statue-esque cactuses standing like 30-feet tall. “I wrote that song, literally driving down through the Mexican desert. “We used to tour Mexico every summer and winter playing Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, Todos Santos etc., and would surf the whole drive down from San Diego” says Tunnel Vision lead singer and guitarist Hayden Hanson. The rowdy 6-piece outfit has distilled those influences to craft their own original sound that embodies the distinct flavor of life along SoCal’s Pacific Coast like no other. Skateboarding and surfing throughout the day, and blaring area punk rock, reggae and ska legends at night. Tunnel Vision emerged from the idyllic beach town of San Clemente, CA wholly shaped by the SoCal culture and lifestyle. “Baja Bound” evokes Jack Kerouac’s classic On the Road, but with a modern SoCal flavor of sun-baked days on the waves and hot nights of drunken comradery on the way down to packed shows in Mexico. The West Coast’s preeminent emerging surf/reggae/ska band, Tunnel Vision puts an infused surf/ska spin on the great American road trip with their latest single “Baja Bound”.Ĭollaborating with legendary Grammy winning producer Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Social Distortion, Aquabats, Kelly Clarkson), elevates Tunnel Vision’s already tight, energetic instrumentals synergized by sleek production and a richly descriptive lyricism that conjures cinematic scenes of the beatific American landscape rolling by dusty tour-van windows.
